Rite Architecture

Humans have always shaped spaces; through them, we anchor ourselves in the world and in history. We seek shelter. We navigate. We make ourselves at home.

Architects have made it their calling to arrange, create, and adorn these spaces. They have built houses, squares, shopping centers, and streets – but they have also structured this materiality through ritual artifacts (drawings, plans, concepts) and separations (the workplace, the square, the playground, the road, the home, the school, etc.). It is these ritual and spatial concepts that construct the spatiality of the modern world.

That way of thinking is no longer possible.

Out of doubt emerges a quiet kind of confusion, an uncertainty in the movement forward – and then, slowly, a mental departure. It begins with the edges of what we once believed in growing blurred. We can no longer maintain sharpness, our visions become elusive. We look at the same things as yesterday, but we start searching for the contours of something else.
